2017 Johnson Creek High School Scholarship Recipients

Scholarships were awarded to Johnson Creek High School seniors at the annual awards program on Friday afternoon, May 26th.

Heading the list of local scholarships, five Max Alberts Scholarships for $7,600 each were awarded.  The recipients were Noah Argus, Elysa Doherty, Joshua Kupsche, Victoria Nizzi, and Kaitlyn Woodward.  Throughout high school, each student has made positive contributions to the school and community.  Best wishes to each student as they continue their education.

Noah was a member of the Cross Country and Track and Field teams for all four years of high school. In addition, he was very involved in music.  He participated in Band, Pep Band, Jazz Band, and Honors Band.  Noah was also a member of Choir and a cast member for the school musical throughout high school. His musical skills in Choir and Band were featured at Solo & Ensemble each year. Further, he participated in FBLA, FFA, Forensics, National Honors Society, Skills USA, and Student Council. He will continue his education at UW Madison with a major in Engineering. Noah will also receive an Air Force ROTC Scholarship valued at the cost of tuition!

Elysa played volleyball and softball all four years of high school and she is named the Senior Athlete of the Year. She held leadership positions and earn awards in each sport. Elysa explored her musical talents in Band, Jazz Band, Pep Band, and the school musical.  In addition, she was a member of Art Club, Spanish Club, FBLA, FFA, Forensics, National Honors Society, Student Council, and Student Government.  Following her passion for Agriculture, Elysa served on the Wisconsin Show Pig Association Youth Board for the past three years.  She will continue her education at Western Illinois University with a major in Exercise Science and Nutrition. Elysa also received the Johnson Creek Booster Club Scholarship ($500) and Precision Feed Technologies Scholarship ($1500).

Joshua played football and baseball all four years of high school and wrestling during 9th and 10th grades.  Josh’s love for music is reflected in his involvement in Band, Concert Choir, Honors Choir, Solo & Ensemble for Band and Choir, Honors Band, Pep Band, and leading roles in school musicals.  Further, he participated in Art Club, Spanish Club, FFA, Forensics, National Honors Society, Student Council and Student Government. Josh also represented Johnson Creek High School at Badger Boys State and as the Homecoming King.  He will continue his education at UW Whitewater with the career goal of teaching music to youth. Josh also received the Red Cross Scholarship ($500), Johnson Creek Booster Club Scholarship ($500), and the JCEA Scholarship ($750).

Victoria was a member of the volleyball and softball teams throughout high school.  She was very involved in the music program with experience in Band, Choir, Honors Choir, Honors Band, Solo & Ensemble for Band and Choir, Jazz Band, and leading roles in the school musicals.  In addition, he participated in Art Club, Spanish Club, FFA, Forensics, National Honors Society, Student Council and Student Government.  She represented Johnson Creek High School at Jefferson County Youth Government Day and Badger Girls State.  She will continue her education at Michigan Technological University in the Mechanical Engineering program.

Kaitlyn participated in volleyball, cross country, and track and field.  In the music department, she was involved with Band, Jazz Band, Honors Band, Pep Band, Solo & Ensemble, and the school musicals.  Katie demonstrated her leadership abilities in the Art Club, Spanish Club, FBLA, FFA, Forensics, National Honors Society, Student Council, and Student Government.  She has a passion for literacy which she shares with elementary students three times a week while she volunteers time to help them with reading and writing skill. She will continue her education at UW Madison with a double major in English and Political Science.  Kaitlyn was also presented the Joe Davies Scholarship ($20,000), Richard L Bowers Memorial Scholarship ($1000), Jefferson County Deputy Sheriff’s Association Scholarship ($750), and the Harry & Shirley Kuehl Foundation Scholarship ($500).
