2018 Best Friends of Education Awards

On Wednesday, May 30th, the Johnson Creek School District recognized community members that have made an impact on our schools.

The ceremony began with recognition of Mrs. Kris Blakeley. Mrs. Blakeley is retiring this year after 11 years of service in the district as elementary principal and Pupil Services Director. Mrs. Blakeley started her career as a Speech Specialist prior to joining the district. She also served the Ithica School District as Superintendent. Her leadership here was instrumental in improving instruction for all students and improving the culture of the elementary school. Mrs. Blakeley received a crystal which has a globe engraved that says “You have made a world of difference.”

Mr. Alan Schott was then recognized for his 42 1/2 years with the district. Mr. Schott will be retiring after this school year and has served in many leadership capacities. Mr. Schott started as an elementary school teacher and then moved into the middle school. He strived every day to make a difference in the lives of every student. Mr. Schott also received a crystal commemorating his service. The engraving states: “You went the extra distance for children. Your daily walk alongside children has taught them how to walk, and your example…where to walk. Your footprints will be their stepping stones to their future.”
