8th Grade Student Raises Over $2,000 for Cancer

After attending a conference earlier this school year, middle school teachers Megan Rojemann and Lauren Zellmer had the idea to start a Genius Hour / Passion Project. Once a week, students have an opportunity to work on a project that they choose. There are many different types of projects, but one in particular has really stood out.

Megan Christian has found inspiration in her uncle’s recent colorectal cancer diagnosis. With her uncle receiving some support from the charity Angel On My Shoulder, she decided to create a project that could help support that organization, as well as bring awareness to the disease. Megan designed a tee shirt and set up a crowd funding site on Booster, allowing her to accept donations and sell her shirt.
