This past spring, Johnson Creek Elementary School has worked with the local Jefferson County Healthy Initiative Team and the Second Harvest Program to start a garden club. The club grew and evolved into two sections of a gardening class that took place during summer school. In the spring, the elementary garden was planted and continues to flourish. To accommodate the growing numbers, a garden plot was started at the Middle/High School this summer. With the generous donation from Atzalan Fields, students are growing, growing, growing! We have a variety of tomatoes, peppers, and herbs getting ready to use in our school food service and local food pantry.
The students and staff would like to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to Atzalan Fields for their plant donations for this project.
