It was a beautiful day on Saturday, August 6 for the Johnson Creek Fireman’s Festival. J & L Tire sponsored a dunk tank to raise money for One Team One Dream. There was a friendly competition between the dunkees, with heckling starting a few weeks prior.
Johnson Creek teachers, Melissa Enger and Sam Hernandez, had their own competition going and even had t-shirts made for the day. School board member and JC Alum, Rick Wrensch, kicked in an extra donation of $5 per dunk for his time slot. Mike Olson came dressed in a suit, tutu, and wig. Even the new JC Village Administrator, Kyle Ellefson, and new JC Middle/High School Principal, Neil O’Connell took turns.
Throughout the day,15 different community members sat in the tank and tried to raise the most money in their 30 minute shift. Melissa Enger came out the winner for the day, bringing in 141 tickets! In total, we raised $940 from the proceeds from the dunk tank and donations for the fields.
OTOD volunteers were on site to share information about the upcoming events and the latest piece of the campaign, the One Team One Dream Brick Walk. Set to launch this fall, the long awaited brick walk will be located near the new concessions stand near the entrance of the football field and track.Three sizes of bricks are available with price points at $100, $250, and $500.
We’d like to thank J & L Tire for sponsoring the dunk tank and all the volunteers who sat in the tank and took tickets that day. We would also like to thank all of the community members who came out to support OTOD and made it a fun day!
The One Team One Dream campaign has raised close to $815,000. The next fundraising event is the OTOD Golf Outing, set for Thursday, September 22 at the Watertown Country Club. After that, the third annual Run for the Fields is taking place on Saturday, October 8 at the new Johnson Creek MS/HS site. The Johnson Creek Historical Society and the Johnson Creek Mutual Hose Company are also holding a fundraiser, Shoot for the Fields, on October 15th to help raise money for the campaign. More information on the campaign and the various event registrations can be found at www.jconeteamonedream.com. Brick Walk information will be coming soon.
