Retired Watertown Riverside Middle School teacher and author, Frances Milburn wrote a serial story called The Hundred Dollar Cat, which was featured in the Watertown Daily Times. It was a nine chapter story that the students in grades 2-5 and the middle school read throughout October. Frances visited both the elementary and middle school on Wednesday, October 30, the day after the last chapter appeared in the paper. She spoke about how she got her ideas for her stories and the process she went through to write and publish her stories. The children had the opportunity to ask her questions. Lyle Wuestenberg from J & L Tires was the sponsor who made it possible for the classrooms to receive the newspaper each day that the article was featured. The story had an important message of consequences that happen as a direct result of our choices.
