New Construction Update – April

By Dr. Garvey
Superintendent

We plan on completion and occupancy, as planned, for next August. School will begin on September 6th for all students in the District. Our contractors, architects, engineers and suppliers have worked well together and have all worked to make this an excellent project. The leadership that TSP architects and our Construction Managers from Maas Brothers have brought to the project has been tremendously valuable.

Here is where we are at today:
Dome construction
• South Industries completed the last dome shell construction in
December which was ahead of our current construction schedule.
• They have been a great partner on the project.

Connecting buildings
• The connecting buildings are all enclosed.
• The storefront glass has been installed as have the windows throughout the building.
• The roofers have the roof secure.
• Plumbing and electrical is in place in the connecting links.

Site work
• Wondra Construction has already been on site this spring working on connecting the roof drains and beginning to complete the earth work.
• The Board of Education is preparing the permits and design for a sidewalk from the entrance of the Tanner Ridge subdivision along Hwy B to the new site. A Boardwalk will be placed across the wetland to connect the sidewalk with a sidewalk on the school property. The entire proposal does require approval from the Village Board and the DNR.

Interiors
• The work inside the building has been progressing well.
• 4 of the domes have the stud work complete with the Cafetorium being the last to see walls.
• Drywall is hung in the 4 domes.
• The stage is in place and construction on the back of the stage will begin soon.
• The classroom walls in the Middle School and High School have been painted.
• The painting of the admin/Arts dome (offices, Library, art and music rooms) is complete and the casework has been set.

Athletic Fields
• We have seen quite a bit of support for the athletic fields. We hope to have enough donations and pledges to begin construction of parts of the project in spring.
• The Gala was an incredible event (see related article) and our fundraising team is looking forward to the fall golf outing.
• A website is available at http://www.jconeteamonedream.com which provides information about the fundraising efforts, including naming rights, on-line donations, volunteer opportunities and events.
• Our solicitation team would love to visit with your company’s leadership team, your group, or individuals to explain the donation and naming right’s opportunities.
• This coming fall, the third annual Run for the Fields will be held. We thank the many volunteers, sponsors and the participants who made the first two a success.
• Donations can be sent to the District Office and are being kept in a designated fund. Donations can also be made on-line at
http://www.jconeteamonedream.com .

Commitment
As stated in each update, the new facility is a long term asset for the community and your School Board and Administrative Team are committed to making the best decisions based on the most current information. Watch for another update in the next issue of the Jay.
