The weekend kicked off with former Green Bay Packer, and Hall of Fame quarterback, Lynn Dickey speaking to the Johnson Creek HS/MS student body and members of the public. Mr. Dickey’s message was about how C’s aren’t good enough. He spoke about his regret of not trying harder in school. “Anybody can be average” Dickey said. “That’s easy.”
Dickey was also recognized by Village President John Swisher and Village Administrator Mark Johnsrud, as February 19th 2016 has officially been declared “Lynn Dickey Day.”
Students were also treated to a highlight reel of the Hall of Famer’s time in Green Bay, along with having the opportunity to listen to some stories from “back in the day.” The assembly concluded with students having the opportunity to ask questions.
Following the assembly, Dickey passed a football to student Andy Deutsch and then autographed it for him. Dickey then took time to sign autographs and take pictures with students before heading to the site of the new school for a tour of the facility.

The inaugural One Team One Dream Gala, held Saturday night at the Elks Lodge, was an outstanding success. The event generated over $81,000 for the new athletic fields in Johnson Creek. There were over 200 people in attendance at the event that sold out a month ago.
The evening started off with a silent auction, followed by dinner and then a keynote address by former Green Bay Packer quarterback, Lynn Dickey. Arnie Peck of WSJY was the Master of Ceremonies for the evening. The highlight of the night was the live auction, followed by dueling pianos for the final entertainment.
The live auction alone raised over $44,000. Dan McKee, the auctioneer for the event and Elks Lodge member, stated, “The crowd was very generous and I had a great time helping such a great cause – the kids.”
The evening ended with live entertainment with dueling pianos, Felix and Fingers.
Laurie Adams of Adam Asphalt Plant, and an event sponsor, stated: “I was very impressed with the whole event. The committee and volunteers did a wonderful job and we were certainly impressed.”
Anne Gunn, an event attendee and parent in the district stated: “What an incredible event! There was so much generosity for our kids, and amazingly well planned!” Another guest said, “I’ve never seen people bid so much for auction items. The school is fortunate have such a good group behind them in this effort. It was fun, well-run, and one the better fundraising events I have attended.”
Paula Constable, Event Organizer and Campaign Chair said “We exceeded all our goals due to the wonderful generosity and support of our sponsors and guests. We strived to give our guests a great night out while raising money and the response we received was overwhelmingly positive.”
Dr. Michael Garvey, Johnson Creek School District Administrator stated: “It was an incredible evening. There were many many people involved in the event to make it a success. I want to thank the parents and staff who volunteered, the students who contributed desserts and auction items, the donors, guests, and buyers. Most importantly, I wish to thank the event committee who were the heart and soul of our success – Paula Constable, Patti Swanson, Merisa Nicholson, and Heidi Hartz and our honorary chairperson, Lyle Wuestenberg.
